Entry for November 11, 2006...

Hi everyone,

The photo above is of the doors leading into the Dayspring chapel.  It is a wonderful compilation of work by the core members who were invited to lend their talents.  It is a masterpiece which will never be sold at auction at Christie's, but is incredible to see and experience.  Its depth and colours and imagination touch the depths of your heart and story.

The chapel lends itself to touching your imagination and speaks of the special community that gathers each week and welcomes.  There is a wonderful welcoming space that lends to people who mingle and hug, shake hands, share stories.  As you enter the worship space, there is a stunning window that looks out onto a small lake and trees, a walk about, benches. It is beautiful blend of nature and our nature as human beings.

There are pictures displayed of core members who have died but live on and sing and dance with us in spirit each week.  Their photos captivate us and move us to tears and chuckles as we remember their stories and impact on our lives.  There are prayer corners with artwork that lends to a prayerful atmosphere.  There is foliage and soft chairs to invite us to be comfortable and relax and enter into prayer.

The altar is designed low, so as to allow the presider to stay seated with the servers also allowing the community to remain seated if they desire to be united with those who cannot stand on their own.  he back wall is covered by a beautiful textile that lends to the imagination.

All this space is made complete by the wondrous people that enter, that pray and sing, in tune and off tune.  It sings with the sounds of our less vocal core members who find their own way to be heard in prayer.  You are swept away by the love and respect shown to the core members.

Each Friday I hate to leave, feeling so wraped in love by the divine and the divine people who have prayed together that night.  How our church communities could learn from Dayspring in the way we vest our church and ourselves in preparing to pray.

Until next time.....

Jeff
