Entry for October 12, 2006...meet my new friend Priscilla
photo

Hi folks,

Do not adjust your eyes, yes that is me with none other than the wife of the late King of Rock and Roll.  This is Priscilla Presley.

Okay, have you gotten past shaking your head?  Let me explain how this came to pass.  Well I am lying in bed this morning sleeping in as it is my day away.  I hear on CHFI radio that Priscilla Presley has launched a new line of bed linen and she is apearing at the Bay on Queen street in Toronto.  Well I am thinking, that would be neat, to have a photo of her to add to my collection and if possible to get close enough to ask for an autograph.

Well I take the subway and find my way and did not get lost this morning believe it or not.  I arrived at 11:15am for the 12 noon arrival.  I found out you could get a bracelet to get in line to meet her and have an autograph, if you purchased something of her line.  Well I hunted and the cheapest thing was a $40 pillow...actually $46.50 with tax.  A nice pillow, but $46.50 al to get in line.  Well many of you know my collection of autograph and to add her to my collection would be amazing.  So I buy the pillow, get my bracelet and get in line with a bunch of older people (older than me).  There were some there lined up who could have passed for Elvis' mother and I am sure they have the Velvet Elvis hanging in their living room at home.

Well upon inspecting my new luxury pillow, I find out that some of the embroidry thread has come loose.  I am thinking that I do not want her to see that and ask to exchange it without losing my place.  Well, they were sold out so they gave me the pillow off the bed next to her and placed mine there.  So up I went, was introduced to her.  I was standing next to the closest royalty I will ever meet...Priscillia herslef, the star of the Naked Gun comedy films, Kristen off of Dallas...etc.  I intorduced myself as a Catholic priest on Sabbatical to which she replied  with a laugh "Really???? That is a first for me!!!"  I told her about L'Arche Daybreak and my work and she was impressed and told me to keep up the good work. I had pictures taken with her and skipped off he stage most impressed.

I still laugh at my luck to be in the right place in the right time.  What a great day off.  I was star struck and just wandered around shopping the rest of the  day and then took in a movie "The DaVinci Code" I had heard so much about.  I was the only one in the theatre!!!!

Anyway, back to reality....or L'Arche reality I should say!  So until next time Jeff has left the blog!!!!
