Hi folks,
You won't believe it but it hapened again. I had given up trying to re-do my last blog. So I wrote on this day and lost it again.
I will try and recapture a bit of the day. I was tired today because I eneded up last night siting down with three of the assistants and we talked until 1:15am. i could not believe it when I came back to te room. So getting up at 6am was tiring.
Today I had two meetings in the morning. The first was my one month review with Carmen, our head of house. We are on probation for three months and I was pleased with the outcome of this meeting. She was glowing her her report of me and challenged me to make sure I continued to find time and space to recapture energy. Most of you know of my unlimited energy. But we also need to renew ourselves.
The second meeting was with my mentor Toni. She has been assigned to me to hep me in integrating my time with L'Arche. She is a wonderful lady who is gifted and full of wisdom. She will be good as a mentor. I had time way after but found myself going to bed for two hours (which I never do) as I was so tired.
Supper tonight was a treat as I was free to invite myself and Mike Ricci (from our house) to Green house. We had a chance to reunite Mike with Bill and David (original core members) and we tormented and were tormented. it was a great chance to get around and visit another house. Then to top it off, in came John Smeltzer who for me is an icon of L'Arche. Another assistant describes John as "my rock star". It is so true. He has his own video called "The John Smeltzer story" which speaks of his home at L'arche, but also of his question he asks everyone "Are you home tonight?" I saw him yesterday and he hollered that out to me...I responded "Yes" I am realizing that more and more I have always considered home where I was and for me right now " I am at home at L'Arche.
So Thursday at 12 noon I begin my weekend away until Sunday at 6pm. I am off to visit some friends and share Thanksgiving with someone I have not seen in 12 years. I am so excited about that. I will have all kinds of stories to share when I blog on Sunday night. So until then...
Jeff
