Happy Labor Day

Hi everyone and happy labour day!

Today is pretty quiet here with Kara, Mary Anne and John all home with their families.  Just Mike Ricci and Tom for core members, but things will liven up later today.  I spent a couple of days in Burlington with friends Fran, Stephen and their little son Evan.  It was a nice break after the week of orientation.

Today I will take advantage of the quiet day and make some home made bread for the house and especially for Kara who has special dietary needs.  Tom and I plan to go and visit some of the other L'Arche homes in our neighborhood.  We will visit Church street and Corner House.  Corner house is all ladies who live there and three core members with more special needs.  They love to have the men visit so I will take Tom with me today also.

This week will be getting into the routine.  I started this morning with medication (giving it, not taking it..ha!) and learning how to do that and the log books, etc.  I am going for a driving test for the house Van for insurance purposes with CAA as well as my 2nd TB test.  Lots of little details to think about but already I am finding a routine.

Some of you may remember Sue Moesteller who  helped give a retreat at IHM a year + ago.  I will meet up with her to set up some spiritual direction which is very important to integrating my experience this year.

Well it is 11:09am local time and I think I will check on what is happening downstairs.  Watch later on tonight for a summer of how my visits went and if the bread turned out.

Fr. Jeff,
As former shipmates in the Baltics, we shall continue to pray for you as you follow in the footsteps of Henri Nouwen and Jean Vanier in the coming year. May God bless your ministry at L'Arche.
With love from Almonte,
