Hi everyone,
Well it is now 9pm local time and I just finished a wonderful wisit with Caludette and Hugh Farqhuar from Riverview. Claudette is liturgy and music co-ordinator for the grouping and it was so amazing to see them. Actually it felt like I was back home and they had stopped in for a visit.
Well anticipation has built when I told the house the news that they were coming for a visit. Visits are wonderful but especially meaningful here at L'Arche. I told them about Claudette and Hugh and how good of friends they were. We fretted on what to make for supper. I settled on a rice dish and even made coconut cream pies. Now the problem is that I used Rice milk and they didn't thicken one bit. One of the asssitants arived from Corner House with another assistant and Tracey one of the core members. She suggested I add some corn starch. So I literally poured out the pies into a pot, added a bit of water and cornstarch and brought the mixture and a to a boil. Then I poured them back into the pie shells and placed them into the fridge. This was a noon and supper was at 5pm. So Tom and I blessed the fridge and low and behold, they thickened and we enjoyed them immensely. Claudete shook her head at how I try things....
Well the gang chatted with Claudette and Hugh and they had a chance to see me in my new environment. I took them for coffee and we brought along Mike Ricci, and had a wonderful chat. It was hard to believe that they were here and as we parted ways, I shed a few tears. Another blessing to add to the barrell from this day.
I am grateful to God for the friends placed in my path who have nourished me along the way. So folks, another week has come to an end and we begin another work week. Until next time...talk to you soon.
Jeff
