Entry for September 17, 2006....a restful Sunday

Hi everyone,

Sunday evening and all is quiet in the house.  The Barn dance is now but another memory waiting to be shared at the next gathering.  Today was a rest day after a weekend of parties.

Tom Krusiak and I went to mass this morning and again I punished myself.  I keep saying I am going to move to another parish not far from here.  Today the priest in his homily said that politicians who say they have faith but do not follow the rules are not Christian.   So much for vatican II and the role of conscience.  The main pastor presides without any passion and that is sad.  The only time he really showed any was to say the choir was the best he had ever heard.  It might have worked better to say "Thank for your selection of music that helped us to sing".  It seemed like an invitation to sit back and listen.  I am going to try and find out about the other masses to see if their is more life.  Tom loves to come here as there are some of the core members that come here also.  Tom always thanks me for taking him.  Francis (a core member) is an usher and helps with collection.  Today he took the basket and passed by our seat entirely.  So much for any donations from our seat.  We all looked at one another and put our money back.  Actually I gave my money to Tom to put in the collection and he put it back in his pocket.  Robin, a core member from New House serves.  Actually he robes up and does nothing but he is proud of it.  On the way out he waved to us and gave that wonderful grin.

Today was such a beautiful day that we BBQ'd outdoors.  Mary Anne and Kara went home with their families after the barn dance and so it was just the guys.  Well we all pitched in.  Everyone wanted to help.  Mike Ricci who is visually impaired help me clean the grill.  John Bloss flipped the burgers and they were juicy and the best I have had in a long time.  Tom, set the table and brought things out and cleaned up afterwards.  Everyone had their fill and then it was out for a trip to Tim Horton's for coffee/Tea.

It is wonderful how they love to help and it gives them great self confidence to be able to do this.  After we left, they all thanked me for bringing them to Tim's.  They are really polite, it is quite something.  Again it is the little signs of affection that I get from, the pat on the shoulder, the side hug and even a kiss on the arm from John Bloss.  The attachments are growing.  John Bloss is also quite mischevious.  As I prepared a potatoe salad for supper, I turned to take the bowl and it was gone.  I looked around and John had it on his head pretending he didn't know where it was.  I love the look on his face as he tries to look innocent as if he did nothing.

Oh the memories that are collecting up. So I leave you tonight and wish you a good week.

Jeff
