Entry for September 15, 2006..bring on the weekend

Hi everyone!

It is Friday night and another day has come to an end. Or should I say another wonderful day filled with little God moments.

Today was a day of birhday parties.  First of all this morning I was busy driving everyone to their work and then got some groceries and came back and made some home made egg rolls, and prepared a few things ahead for supper and Tom Krusiak's birthday party.

But before Tom's party, the gang from the Club gathered at Papa Tom's for a birthday party for Peggy, a core member from Red house. it was a wonderful gathering and we had a surprise visit from Senator Al Graham who is a Cape Bretoner and of course working in Ottawa.  Well Peggy is a diehard Liberal and has actually worked helping out in elections and is the only core member who votes.  Well there are no words to describe how thrilled she was when he came through the door.  We got pictures, he presented her with a special certificate for her devotion to public service.  it spoke of L'Arche which was a nice touch that it was not a regular certificate, but rather specifically done for her.  We went back to the Club at Daybreak and had tea and shared stories of Core members who had died.

This afternoon it  was Tom Krusiak's birthday party at our house.  His patience held out since Tuesday...boy he could teach Mulligan a few things about patience. His mom and her husband arrived to join us for supper as well as Trish who is in charge of the assistants and George who is a support person who helps once in a while. Well there was a huge Superman balloon for Tom who simply adores and breathes Superman.  He was full of presents that just made the excitement ooze out of him. Went out for cake afterwards in the parc behind the house and had some folks over from Church street and Corner house.  It was just wonderful.

Tonight we gathered at Dayspring for another wonderful time of prayer.  Taize prayer was on the menu and we feasted once more in this beautiful form of prayer.  Well Carole from Green House was around me.  She is the one who likes to whip the living with Christ a hundred miles an hour out of her hands as she is handed another one.  Well she whacked me twice with it tonight throwing it like a ninja whipping a throwing star.  Senator Al Graham was with us tongight and we did a community blessing around him.  he spoke and was in tears being unable to describe how touched he was by his two days at L'Arche.  He is going to be a patron for L'Arche Daybreak and you just can't visit here without being touched. We ask God to bless another assistant who is leaving and it was amazing again as Gordie Henry is asked to come and lead the blessing.  His words are deep and he has a priestly role within this community.  Of course I got a big hug from him, along with "you meatball...you turkey"  That is my blessing each time i see him along with a great hug.  Dave Harmon invited me again for coffee and I am really going to try and invite him when I take Mike Ritchie out for coffee this week.

And so I go to bed like I do each night...with a heart filled in gratitude for the moments of the day God has made me feel so loved and so blessed.  Until th next time...God's blessings to you all.
