Well the countdown continues towards Christmas celebrations and the pace of the week continues to be hectic.
On Monday we enjoyed an outing to Niagara Falls for a house trip. We picked up the gang around 2pm and then from there loaded into the van and began the 90 minute trip. We stopped off at Swiss Chalet and had Christmas supper there before we the night came upon us and we headed for the real treat...over two million Christmas lights. All along the Falls parkway there were Christmas decorations on trees, free standing arrangments and especially the spectacular rainbow colours that lit up the Falls themselves. We walked along the falls and took the picture above of all of us. We are only missing Carmen our house leader who was not well this night and replaced by Mike Crawford a house support staff. It was a great trip.
Also this week there are get togethers and each one that passes, moves the group closer to family celebrations and the arrival of Christmas. There are the get togethers at work, with friends. Wednesday night there is a gathering of some assistants who try and have a meal each week to build friendship.
It is a time of last minute gift buying and for Mike Ricci and I, my traditional home made nuts and bolts that got made and wrapped into Christmas cans and brought around to friends here at L'Arche. And so the week continues and the anticipation builds.
Enjoy your own week at home.
