| JEFF HYSLOP (The Phantom of the Opera): Over the years, audiences have enjoyed seeing Vancouver-born Jeff Hyslop in a wide variety of roles both on stage and on screen. Some of his favorites include Gilbert Blythe in Anne of Green Gables, Dick in Dames at Sea, Jesus in Godspell, the title role of Pippin, Fredric in Pirates of Penzance, the Devil in L'Histoire du Soldat, Laertes in Hamlet, Berowne in Love's Labour Lost, the title role in Aladdin, and of course, the role of Mike in both the London West End and Broadway productions of A Chorus Line. He is well known as Jeff the Mannequin, star of television series "Today's Special," which has maintained a growing popularity for over ten years now with families across North America, Australia, and New Zealand. Mr. Hyslop was featured as the lead dancer and an Apostle in Norman Jewison's film version of "Jesus Christ Superstar." His numerous television appearances include series for both CTV and CBC Television and guest appearances on variety specials for CBS-TV and the CBC. A highlight of his television career is his own "Dancin' Man Superspecial" in which he performed with his favorite dance partner, Karen Kain. Mr. Hyslop has kept busy behind the scenes in theatres from New Brunswick to British Columbia, directing and choreographing such musicals as Side by Side by Sondheim, Babies: Bless Them All, On Tap, Jacob Two-Two, They're Playing Our Song, The Club, Godspell, Take Two, Modern Housewives, Irma La Douce, Peter Pan, Six Women With Brain Death, and most recently, A Little Show, in which he co-starred with his wife, Ruth Nichol. Mr. Hyslop has received numerous awards for his work including three Jessie Awards, two for Best Choreography and one for Best Director; five nominations for the ACTRA Award for Best Variety Performer; and a Dora Mavor Moore Award in 1984 for On Tap as "Best New Show." Portraying "The Phantom" is a dream come true for Jeff and he is finally working with legendary director Harold Prince. |
