| This is a red fox track. If you look closely, you can see the chevron-shaped mark in the heelpad. This feature is exclusive to the front feet of the red fox. More than likely, however, this is a front and a rear paw in the same spot because foxes generally have perfect-step. This means that their rear feet step in exactly the same spot as their front feet. This makes the red fox an ideal predator because it makes less noise when it walks. |
