Prepared
Here are some tips on things to take when you go exploring off pavement.
Food & Water:
Being stuck for days means carrying a supply of dry foods such as nuts, trail mix,, granola bars, and chocolate bars and most importantly, plenty of water.
Shelter & Warmth
An important rule of survival is finding or making a shelter. A tarp would make an excellent make-shift tent. Keeping warm is also paramount. Bringing along an extra jacket or even a sleeping bag may save your life.
Communication:
Communicating with others will determine how soon you will be rescued. A CB radio is ideal, but a cellular phone will work, as long as theres a signal available.
Fixed blade knife:
A good quality fixed blade knife is probably one of the most important and most used tools when out in the woods.
Basic tool kit:
Basic tool kit should include: Flashlight (LED),  screwdrivers, wrenches, adjustable wrench, sockets, for your drive train or any other part thay may bust on the trail. Spares such as u-joints, hoses, belts and extra lube & oils are a plus.
