I 've found a great business tool, my Handspring VisorDeluxe! I purchased this unit in April 2001 with the intention of using it as a fancy address book, but when I got into this device, I realized how much more productive this would make me, not only my job, but personal areas, too.
As a matter of fact, the Visor Deluxe worked out so well, that in September, I prchased a Visor Prism, to agument my productivity. For a living, I work in the parts division of the machine and equipment repair department for an international candle manufacturer. We are at the point of installing all inventory, repair, and maintaince data on a CMMS system, which is made a lot sompler and easier with the Visors. My reason for 2 Visors is a unit which I can use on the floor, where damage is more likely, and the second unit resides on my desk, for the number crunching and final draft of my project I am working on at the time. Plus, the benifit of two Visors makes working on two completely different projects at the same time a lot easier! The only problem I have experianced with the operation of the Visor Deluxe is the monochrome LCD screen is difficult to read in low light conditions. (But that never happens working the third shift crawling under a $500,000.00 machine, does it?) As far as visibility and viewing is concerned, the Visor Prism beats the Deluxe hands down! (Ah, just noticed there, no pun intended). |

I've taken some photos of the screen on some of the programs I use, this should give you an idea of the capibilities on the Visors. I will be adding more when time allows! If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know! |

Adobe Reader. This converts pdf files for viewing by the Palm OS. The resioution on the graphics is fairly good. I did not optimize the pdf file in this file, so the graphic quality is a little bit lower. |

Nice data base program called Tiny Bites by Thinking Bites. I've found this program quite flexable in setting up databases and entry records. It behaved fairly well with Excel and Access. |

This is the sample of the twxt base brogram which I use Go Type! It saves the data in either memo text format, or adoc file. (no, not Word doc). This program came with the Go Type keyboard, which is a smaller, non folding keypad. The keyboard took a little getting used to at first, but I had way too many problems with non responsive keys on the folding keypads. |

OOps...... bad news! it seems that my Visor Deluxe has suffered a damaged glass lens which was a result of sudden deacceleration upon contact with a cement floor! Guess it's time to send it off to Handspring for repairs! |
