Cariboo Adventure Rally 2001

Becky and I had entered this event several months early but as the date approached it became clear that I was not going to be able to attend. This left us faced with probably canceling because we usually go together with me driving. I suggested to Becky that she could still go as long as there was another Jeep from our club to make the 7 hour highway drive to Quesnel, B.C.. Our good buddy Ken had expressed an interest in making the journey when we had joined a few months earlier. Ken was all for it and being a 3 banana backyard grease monkey I knew Becky would be ok as long as Ken brought his trusty all in one tool the 32oz ball peen hammer. Becky had the perfect copilot selected for the journey. Bonnie was her choice and once I had her sign all the necessary liability waivers and she had paid her seat cover damage deposit it was a done deal. They left Vernon on Aug. 3rd hoping to make it home as scheduled on Aug. 6th

They made it through the weekend. Only one injury, Bonnie dislocated her thumb when a branch hit her. She didn't let it slow her down though. She volunteered to paddle out to the middle of a lake in a little inflatable dingy as one of the trail tasks required by every team. Becky and Bonnie got third place after Becky drove through the timed mud pit obstacle in the second fastest time. Becky got a trophy and a $100 gift certifacate for North Shore Offroad/Sport Trucks Unlimited.

Thanks to Gert and Ken for the pictures, see ya on the trail.
