Bailey Family Stories and Photos

Mystery People Contest Identify all the people in the photo and win the Bailey Family Website Old-Timer Award. Audrey has identified the people as follows. In the car, from left, Earl Bailey, Mary Lu (Floyd's wife), Jennie, the doll is Jerry, Velora Bates (later Moore) who was Jennie's friend, infant Raomi Bates, older girl is unknown, but perhaps Wilma (Bailey) Bice. Enlarge photo In front of car we have, from left, George W Bailey, Floyd, Earl Bates, and Bill Bailey. Earl Bailey and Earl Bates died in the influenza epidemic of 1919-20, shortly after this photo was taken.

So who were the people in the previous photo? On the left is Jennie Bailey, on the right is Edith Wilcox (soon to be the wife of James L. Bailey) Audrey says that Jennie taught school in Hubbell, Nebraska and stayed at the Wilcox house, where she and Edith became fast friends. Jennie brought Edith to Carleton to visit. She met Jim and they later married. Audrey reports all of Edith's photos from that time showed a very pretty young woman. Send your contributions for the next update. Don
