Many moons before a time we remember was a time when the Earth was wild with change. She was forming mountains and oceans, deserts and forest, valleys and prairies. And this place was formed, Ravenna Ravine--and the Goddess let rest her flowing green gowns among the ancient rocks who had settled in this place. And she called to the tree people to take root, and the plants to awake, and the water spirits to dance throughout. And a message went out to the animals to come to this place and make it their home. And when the peoples of the Earth began to roam, they found this sanctuary, and opened their arms to embrace their Mother, and she welcomed all. We gather together to honor our Goddess, for she gives us hope, and strength, and wisdom. Her womb is eternally fertile, bearing new life each year. We dance, and play, and frolic, and weave ourselves among her flowing gowns of green. Listen to Her, and she will transform you with her spell, and teach you to smile, to laugh, to love. We are a tribe. We are the women, and men and children. We are the faeries and witches, priestesses and warriors. We come together to find the Goddess within, and to celebrate the May! This is the new coven--a ribirth for things that have passed, and a beacon for things to come. She is the circle, never-ending. In Summer, she is ripe and full. In Autumn she reflects and gathers. In Winter, she meditates and rejuvinates. And in Spring, she bursts open again with an energy that cannot be surpassed. She gifts to her people the joy, the power, and the beauty in this dance of life. While we move through our own circles, we discover the Goddess in ourselves. She is there in our sadness and joy, our anger and love. We celebrate Her, we honor Her, and give strength to heal Her. I stand before you, giving body to the Goddess, but it is each one of you that becomes the whole of Her spirit. We stand here in anticipation, waiting to see what will be brought forth tomorrow. I'm excited, and scared, and giddy, and overjoyed to know that if anything--I'll be part of it. And as we dance the maypole and join that Goddess to her God, and as we feast, and play--as we talk and laugh, we'll do it as one. It is the new beginning, are you ready? If you're not sure, just ask the Goddess for some guidance and help in letting go and starting anew! Go now to her sacred grove, join in the celebration of the day, dance with Her and become alive! Remember all acts of love are my ritual...so says the Goddess! |
