My parents purchased my 1989 RS new in September, 1989. I was 9 years old when they bought it. It is in near-original condition, save for the modifications I have done since I received it in May of 1998 with 56k miles. It has only 91k miles now, and has been pampered since new. It remains in near-mint condition.
It's never been hit or wrecked, but the paint is not original. It was re-painted by the dealer under warranty in March, 1990 because of acid rain damage to the clearcoat, and because there was a hair stuck in the hood from the factory (gotta love GM quality control!!) After the reapaint, it was a darker gray. Don't ask me why. The original color is GM Medium Gray Metallic, but the only way you can tell its darker than stock is when you open the doors, and see there is a small 1/8 inch overlap of the new, darker paint meeting the factory paint in the door jams.

I've left the exterior almost bone stock. I love the way the RSs look on the outside...no stripes, scoops, excess moldings or wild spoilers. I've only added the IROC tailights (nice improvement) and a Chevrolet windshield logo. Everything else will stay stock, except for the addition of IROC rims in a few years.
With only 91k miles on the car, it still runs and drives like brand new. The interior is mint, and the body is rust-free. The 2.8 hums right along, and the automatic shifts like new. The dealer paint job has held up well.

I have been close to selling this car 3 times in the last 3 years, most recently a month ago. When I bought my new car, ('97 Z28 30th Anniversary), I had bought a '95 Grand Am to run back and forth to work with, and to use as a winter car. I was planning on selling the RS, but clearer heads prevailed, and I sold the Grand Am to my sister and kept the RS as a second car. So until I graduate in another year, the RS will remain as is. After that, who knows...maybe a 305 swap? I know one thing...it isn't getting out of my hands!
