Disks are used by the computer to store information (Data). Most disks make use of magnetic media but disks also include CD ROMS, magneto Optical, and floppy disks.

  • DOS (Disk Operating System)
The computer processor relies on DOS to convert instructions from Windows 95/98 into a special format of 1's and 0's.

  • Domain Name
All web sites on the Internet need to be identified from millions of others. To allow the browser programs to find an individual site each site has a domain name.

  • DVD (Digital Versatile Disc)
DVD's are very much like CD ROMS, except they can store many times more information thanks to new technology. Unfortunately DVD's can only be used to read information and cannot be used to backup data in the same way as CD's.
