As the Separatist movement starts to take more deadly strikes at the Republic, specifically at Senator Amidala of Naboo, the Jedi decide to take action by offering to protect the Senator. While investigating an assasssination attempt on the Senator, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi tracks the man he believes to be behind the plot to kill the Senator to the planet of Geonosis. While investigating the structures on the planet, Obi-Wan overhears Dooku finalizing a treaty with many of the galaxy's biggest unions. While trying to send a message to the Jedi Council, Obi-Wan is captured. Count Dooku then confronts Obi-Wan and uses his new found Dark Side powers to try to pry into the mind of Obi-Wan to see what he knows, a stalemate that Obi-Wan seems to win. Then Dooku confesses to Obi-Wan the innerworkings of the Galactic Senate, that it is being controlled by a single Sith Lord named Darth Sidious. After mentioning that if Qui-Gon Jinn were still alive he would help his former master, a claim that Obi-Wan shoots down, Dooku then makes an offer to Obi-Wan that if he were to take his side, then they could destroy the Sith together. After turning down Dooku's offer, Obi-Wan is left to the Geonosians to be tried and executed.
During an attempt to execute Obi-Wan along with Senator Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, who tried to rescue Obi-Wan but were also captured, the three were saved by a task force of Jedi Knights led by Jedi Master Mace Windu. As the battle unfolds, the Jedi are incredibaly out-numbered by the Droid armies of the Separatists, it's only with the arrival of the Republics new Clone Army that the surviving Jedi are able to escape the execution arena. It was under the cover of chaos from within the arena that Tyrannus is able to escape. In an attempt to stop Tyrannus from getting away, Obi-Wan and Anakin confront the former Jedi. After disposing of both Jedi, Tyrannus is confronted by his former master, Jedi Master Yoda. In a fury of light, the two clashed in a duel, matching eachother blow by blow. It was only when Tyrannus put Obi-Wan and Anakin in danger that he was able to escape, knowing that Master Yoda would rather save his fellow Jedi than try to stop him. Once Tyrannus returned to his master, Darth Sidious, he informed the Dark Lord of the beginning of the Clone Wars, which was all part of a secret plan by the Dark Lord to bring down the Republic piece by piece and then take over as the new ruler of the galaxy.
