(Footsteps In The Dark) By FebruaryStar (Gina) The long chiffon curtains bellow as the cool night breeze creeps into the room, That holds me prisoner from my heart. The scent of horror lingering in the Room sends me to a harrowing chimera. I lie in a bed as soulless as granite To others it is a place where dreams are made To me it's a coffin, a plot For me to wait until St. Michael takes my hand and leads me to peace. The ordinary quiet noises in the house, my hurse, are louder than ever on this frightful night. Both the sun, as well as the moon have retired Into their slumbers. A single whisper in the hall grows louder and louder, "Whispers in the night." Footsteps on the wood planks near closer and closer, "Footsteps in the dark." A piercing sense of anxiety runs through my twisted body. My life becomes vividly clear as it fades from my mind. I suddenly understand my destiny. I pick up the bottle that holds the death of all misery. I remove the cork, the memories return. The happiness which had once been in my life, but no more, has come back to me. I remember that it had disappeared, my love, my memories, my life. I slowly raise the vile to my lips. A toast to prosperity, to death, that it may bring me life. I drink, swallowing every last drop. As it slowly pervades through my body through my body, I feel my soul return, to fly free once again. Pain departs and love returns. I don't see dark, but light, to a new beginning. My eyes slowly shut, Never again to hear the whispers in the night, The footsteps in the dark.
