A Vision in the Night

(2-2-04)

Dark stranger, a shadow in the night

Billowing coat tails, blocking out the light

Eyes flash once, almost hypnotic

From what, unknown, but most exotic

Impressive size that doubles my own

Suppressing my rising fear, less it be know

His guns hold their place at each hip

And I see, on his black shirt, a rip

On his muscled chest, over his heart

A hole from it being stolen and torn apart

So he feels nothing now, no love

No faith in deities below or above

He looks to me, with cold empty eyes

From my throat, a scream begins to rise

Drawing his revolver, he starts forward

I pray to no one, knowing no Lord

Aiming for my heart, he advances fast

I beg him not to, pleading my last

He stops, much to my surprise

As I wait for the end, my demise

For once, he considers what he’s done

He lowers his weapon, looking to the sun

I beg him no, but he points it to his head

So forlorn, he claims he’s better off dead

He pulls the trigger, shot echoing the lands

I turn away, with my face in my hands

Hiding my tears

Thinking of the years

I spent the same way

Until there came a day

I relinquished all my hate

Realizing its all part of fate

For everyone has to die

That’s why we all cry

A tear is how a memory lives forever

So that person , gone, lives forever
