Emporer Palpatine
Formerly known as Senator Palpatine (also Darth Sidious) this Sith Master initiated the slaughter of the Jedi then, brought down the Old Republic and began his Imperial reign of terror.
He was killed by his apprentice, Darth Vader, in the battle of Endor.
Darth Vader
Darth Vader, formerly Anakin Skywalker, trained for Jedi Knighthood with Obi-Wan Kenobi, but as a young man was turned to the Dark Side.
He renounced his former name and became Emporer Palpatines apprentice.
He later killed Palpatine, but only after being struck by Palpatines murderous lightening. That and an explosion of Dark energy brought upon his death.
He reconverted to the light side shortly before dying.
The Death Star
The Death Star was a space station with a superlaser that had the power to destroy a planet. It had a diameter of 120 kilometers, and held roughly a million passengers and crew.
It destroyed Alderaan, home planet of Princess Leia Organa Solo. It was in turn destroyed by Luke Skywalker, with two proton torpedoes down the exhaust port.
Star Destroyer
Star Destroyers are the work horses of the Imperial fleet. They can hold 9700 stormtroopers, and a full wing of 72 TIE ships, usually 48 TIE Intercepters and fighters, 12 TIE bombers, and 12 TIE boarding craft. A single orbiting Star Destroyer can hold an entire planet at bay. Six Star Destroyers with supply craft, and support cruisers is a common assault group and can destroy almost any defense.
