Chocolt

* * 1/2 Chocolt stars Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp and Carrie-Anne Moss. Directed by Lasse Hollstrm.

If you love romantic films, enjoy the artistic aspect of the cinema, and love well developed plot lines and characters Chocolt is a movie that you need to go see.
If you do not like "romances", despise long, slow-moving movies, or have already seen Pleasantville (just joking), don't feel bad for missing Chocolt.

This movie is about a woman and her daughter who open up a Chocolate store in a conservative little French village. The struggle begins as she tries to sell their chocolates during lent. The mayor basically tries to run her out of town. Eventually, the townspeople come around when they see that she is doing good things for the community.

The reason I gave this movie only 2 1/2 stars out of five, was because although it was a smart, classy film, after viewing it I did not really feel the need to tell everyone to go and see it. It was good, yet not life-changing. The character development was superb, however, the movie was really long. I really felt like I was about 50 percent happy with this movie. That is the reason I gave it exactly half of a perfect movie's desired five stars. I don't really have any feelings of love or hate toward this movie. It was a very good story, just not great enough to top of the list of my favorite movies.
