If you hate childish humor, dislike predictable endings, or you do not care about cats or dogs that much, consider leaving Cat & Dogs off of your list of movies to see this year. Cat & Dogs is a movie where dogs and cats are in a state of war against each other. Mr. Tinkles, the malicious "evil" cat plans on stealing the medicine that would render humans completely unallergic to dogs. The dogs, organized the same as a secret government bureau, rally themselves together in order to defeat the cats. Guess who wins? What? You want me to tell you? That would spoil the ending! Yeah right, you were never going to see this movie. The dogs win. But you are so smart that you probably had already guessed that. The reason I gave this movie only 1 1/2 stars out of five stars, was because, although my feelings are not necessarily feelings of disgust and hatred, the movie was so overly predictable that I almost yakked. The part where the main puppy, Lou (voice played by Toby Maguire) was unconscious and everyone thought that he had been killed, the entire movie theater was silent. I almost expected to hear children crying behind me. I was secretly rooting that he was dead, and an almost overwhelmable case of giggles came over me that I almost spoiled the moment for the dozens of other people attending the movie. Of course, the dog is not dead (darn), and the boy and his dog live happily ever after. It was a really great movie for children. All the children that watched it with me, were laughing hysterically almost the entire way through. So, Cat & Dogs= good movie for children, not so good movie for adults. Go Back |
