The Bourne Identity
**** If you like spy movies, or just movies that are intriguing without the plot holes, I definitely recommend this one.
If you really don't like Matt Damon (which if you are a girl, I really don't see as possible) then don't see this one.
I believe that this movie was very, very good. It is totally better than Minority Report. The idea that more people have seen Minority Report than have seen The Bourne Identity, actually makes me sad. This movie actually deserves way more attention than the crazy sci-fi flick.
This movie stars the delicious Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, a man who can't even remember his identity at all. The search for it is kind of the plot line of the story. Can you imagine not remembering anything at all about your life and suddenly just waking up inside a little fishing boat off the coast of Germany (at least, that's where I think he was found).
What I liked: I liked twelve things about this movie: the plot, Matt Damon, the setting, Matt Damon, Franka Potente, the pacing of the movie, Matt Damon, the acting, the music, Matt Damon, the story, and the ending. Overall, an excellently executed story. It was intriguing, suspenseful, and something that Minority Report didn't have, it made a lot of sense. The pacing started out slow, as in most movies, and it sped up without becoming too fast or crazy. That led to a very satisfying resolution.
OK, so now let's talk about the acting, and Matt Damon. Everyone did a very fantastic job at the acting. Except for Julia Stiles. (Sorry Julia, I think that you are normally great in all of the teenager flicks, but I just was not buying that you were some type of agent in Europe.) Franka Potente was radiant, and believable. How come I haven't seen anything with her in it before? She really rocks! OK, now, Matt Damon: besides him being a humongous hottie, he was absolutely fantastic in this movie. I am not the biggest Matt Damon fan in the world, at least I wasn't before I saw this movie, but seriously, he was very hot and very good. You need to see this movie!
What I was not too crazy about: there wasn't a lot in this movie that I hated. I really didn't like Julia Stiles that much. I think she is a good actress, but it just seemed like she was like 20 years old and all alone working in Europe as a secret agent. Not the most believable thing in the world. One of the plot points I wish they would have explained just a little bit more was how Jason Bourne lost his memory in the first place. Other than that, the entire film was very, very excellent. So I gave it four stars.
