Lord of the Rings stars Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortensen, Liv Tyler, Cate Blanchet, Christopher Lee, and Orlando Bloom. (And a lot of other people) It is directed by Peter Jackson.
***** If you love fantastical adventure stories, and just love movies in general, this is the movie for you.
If you do not like sitting in a theater for three hours, and don't like it when movies are to be continued... you might want to wait until the entire trilogy comes out on video.
I gave this movie 5 stars out of 5 stars. It is very very hard for a movie to even compete with the greatness of a book, but this movie definitely brought the spirit of the book into every aspect of the movie.
Even though this movie is an astonishing 178 minutes (2 hours and 58 minutes) long, I really don't think that it seemed like it was that long. It has a very fast-moving plot, and the actors have such honesty in their character portrayals. As a person who had recently just finished reading the first book (so I had everything fresh in my mind), I thought that Tolkien himself would be pleased with it.
It is not very often that I see a movie in the theater and I want to see it again and again. Lord of the Rings has inspired this, for me. So far, I have seen it five times (as of February 3rd 2002) and I plan on seeing it at least three more times. Anyway, I wish that I was a lot more eloquent so I could put into words how awesome this movie is. Go see it!
