Sleeping Beauty & Disneyland
Disney's masterpiece has long been an important part of his first theme park. Disney had toyed with building Snow White's castle in the park, but instead decided to go with Sleeping Beauty, in part to begin promoting the film 4 years before it opened. Walt Disney was busy working on Disneyland for much of the time that Sleeping Beauty was being made. When I think of Disneyland, I almost always think of Sleeping Beauty Castle. I remember walking through the Castle where the story of the film was told. The park itself holds many fond family memories for me and the castle is the heart, soul, and center of the park.

The final float in Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams for Disneyland's 50th Anniversary is a recreation of the castle, and features the 3 Princesses from the fairy tales produced by Walt Disney himself with Mickey and Minnie standing atop the castle float since it was in the words of Disney himself, "all started by a little mouse." I particularly like this picture as it shows two of my all time favorite Disney characters, Aurora and Mickey Mouse.

The detail on this float is impressive and this shot captures each of Walt's Princesses with her respective Prince. As the float passes by, "Hail to the Princess Aurora" is one of the musical pieces heard.

For years, the Emporium on Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland has created beautiful window displays for Disney films being released or re-released. As part of the 50th Anniversary, the displays have been brought back, so I took a picture of the display for Sleeping Beauty as Philip dances with Aurora.
World of Disney in the Downtown Disney Shopping District has this Princess themed Christmas tree on display and here's another picture of the window at the Emporium highlighting the animated classics of Walt Disney.
