Hollow minds and hollow hearts
Too shallow to accept the truth
That what they know isn’t the only way.
Hollow goals and hollow lives
Too stubborn to expand and fill the void
With wisdom of their own.
Hollow words and hollow reason
Too often repeated with hollow conviction
Tied to hollow arguments from hollow minds.
Hollow men and hollow women
Teaching children their hollow ways.
Hollow people in a hollow world
Drifting along on hollow paths
Oblivious to the details
And the larger world in which they live.
Only those willing to open themselves
Will find the wonders being offered
To anyone willing and ready
To be filled by its vastness; its wealth and beauty
Wisdom and knowledge; depth and majesty.
Open minds and caring hearts
Willing to listen, willing to learn
Are able to see beyond themselves.
Virtuous goals and sharing lives
Enriching themselves; enriching others
Expand the world in which they live.
Wise words and educated reason
Backing conviction with logical thought
Create worthwhile debates that enhance open minds.
To the hollow mind, ignorance is bliss.
Ignorance is ignorance to the open mind
That can reach beyond the limitations of the hollow world
And beyond themselves and leave their hollow paths.
Absorbing the details
Of the larger world in which they live.
