August 4th, 2007: The Day Records Were Toppled (and Matched) ![]() Alex Rodriguez hit his 500th career home run today (or yesterday, as it stands now) in a Yankee victory over the Kansas City Royals, and is the youngest player to do so. Hopefully, Barry Bonds' new record won't stand for long, with A-Rod and Ken Griffey, Jr. hot on his heels. That's right, Barry Bonds' new record. Well, actually, he hasn't broken Hank Aaron's record of 755 career home runs yet. He just tied it today, but still. I'll be glad when someone else comes along and tops Barry, because I don't think I can stand this. I kept hoping that he'd just break it so that everyone can STFU about it. But now that the time has come, I can't wait for someone else to come along and top it, because it just doesn't seem right, considering the fact that Bonds was juicing when he hit a good deal of his 755 career home runs. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, and all I can say is, A-Rod - hurry up. I heard someone say it would take 6 years for A-Rod to get up there, which is okay. Aaron's record stood for more than thirty years. Here's to hoping Bonds' record won't stand that long. 2007-08-05 04:30:48 GMT
