  • The relationship between Ben Roethlisberger and Santonio Holmes is definitely not off to a good start. Apparently, Ben has called Santonio and tried to reach out to him, get a rapport going. Whatever. Santonio has ignored him completely.

“I’ve reached out to Santonio, kind of like [Jerome Bettis] did to me,” Roethlisberger said.

“I gave him my numbers, told him to call me, and when he got into trouble, I called him a bunch of time and left a bunch of messages for him, and he has never called me back, so I don’t know how to take it.

“If he wants me to help him and wants me to take him under my wing, I’ll do that, but it is his call, now, not mine. The ball is in his court, so to speak, but I think he’ll be OK and, hopefully, he’ll get to camp and get his head screwed on straight.”

You heard him, Santonio. Get your act together. Also, Ben had interviews on ESPN and ABC last night and today. Still treading carefully on the helmet issue, but I have a feeling that when it all comes down to it, he's parking the bike for awhile. And to all the bashers who have said, "What a scumbag," "I'm done with this guy," etc: you must not be Steelers fans. Yeah, Steelers fans were upset over the helmet thing, but we all know that ripping him up one side and down the other is not going to help. But you guys? STFU. He doesn't need you anyway.

  • Terrell Owens' new book. I haven't read it, but even if I did, I'm not sure what to make of it. It's being touted as a different side of TO that was never publicly seen during his tenure in Philadelphia. There were two sides to him in Philly? All I saw was the disloyal backstabber. Not that there's a such thing as a loyal backstabber, but you get the idea.
  • And now from one asshat to another. Barry Bonds. He's due to be indicted on Wednesday on charges of perjury (gee, ya think??) and tax evasion. I just have to wonder how you can possibly accidently take performance enhancing drugs. And tax evasion? What, the money he has isn't enough?
  • The Yankees are getting desperate. They signed pitcher Sidney Ponson earlier today. He's got problems both with the law and his attitude. Yankees manager Joe Torre said he liked Ponson's presence on the field. I'm not sure what he saw, but all I'm seeing is problem after problem. Are things really that bad in New York? I'm willing to give the guy a chance, but I still worry about the effect this may have on the team.
