Four Downs on this Friday, the 7th of July

- Another contract dispute. Another wide receiver wanting mo' money. This time, it's Ashley Lelie of the Denver Broncos. People complained about Hines Ward last year, and might call me out for being a hypocrite, but let me tell you something. Hines produced. And when he didn't, he beat himself up. Case in point - Super Bowl XL. But anyway. Ashley Lelie has been inconsistent at best. He didn't produce in the AFC Championship game. He was the one that all the pundits were touting and the Steelers shut him down. Maybe we're not getting all sides of the story here, but I would think that the Denver front office would be much like the Steelers office in that they'd be reasonable. Steelers told Hines, "You show up at camp, we'll talk." Of course, Hines wasn't talking ozone-layer money. I have yet to find what Lelie's asking for. We'll see what happens when training camp rolls around.
- Looks like Ben Roethlisberger is getting better. He's going to be shooting a music video with the Povertyneck Hillbillies...apparently the official band of the Pittsburgh Steelers (Say what??). Of course, our fight song is a polka, so really...guess that isn't too much of a stretch. He's also playing in a golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. I'd say that all systems would be go, come Week 1. Maybe even preseason.
- There may not be a trial for Santonio Holmes. Apparently the woman involved in the incident after which Holmes was arrested does not want to testify against him and would like the charges dropped. This is up to the DA, but it's looking more and more like the woman wants Santonio's money more than anything.
- The World Cup Final is Sunday. It has been said that the projected audience worldwide will be more than a billion people. Of which maybe a thousand will be from the United States. They're right - the United States population interested in the World Cup that day will be massive.
