Four Downs on this Friday, the 30th of June

- Voting ended last night for the MLB All-Star Game, set to take place at PNC Park in Pittsburgh on July 11th. We couldn't vote for pitchers, which was kind of odd, but anyway. I voted all Yankees for the AL, and all Pirates for the NL. All Pirates - it's only fair, due to the game taking place in Pittsburgh. I ended up writing in Melky Cabrera and Bernie Williams of the Yankees for the outfield. Johnny Damon was listed - as were Gary Sheffield and Hideki Matsui. Could have voted for the latter two, but they're both out for a while, due to wrist injuries, so I didn't - I'm not sure why they were listed, because they certainly won't be ready by the 14th. Sheff might, but Matsui's out til September, last I heard.
- The NHL wants to put on a hockey game at Yankee Stadium next season. Yeah, you heard right. All I have to say is...how? It's a baseball stadium, not a hockey arena!
- TE Matt Kranchick has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dude's been bounced around quite a bit. The Steelers drafted him a couple of years ago, only to cut him - twice. Then he went to the Giants. Now he's in Tampa Bay. Good luck to him. Never would have worked out in Pittsburgh anyway. Lynn Swann wore the number 88. No one is destined to wear it ever again.
- Jose Canseco has signed with the San Diego Surf Dawgs - in the Golden Baseball League. He going to blow the whistle on performance enhancement drugs there, too? I'm willing to bet this wouldn't be news if it were anyone else.
