Now that I'm sort of thinking clearly...
So everyone knows, pretty much, about Ben Roethlisberger's motorcycle accident yesterday. He's going to live, obviously. So we can't really worry about that part anymore - it isn't necessary to do so. Anyway - serious, but stable condition, after 7 hours of surgery. I hate how they're saying "There are no other injuries at this time." But I think that was at the request of the family (understandable), which scares me, because what if there is something more? I'm being cautiously optimistic, though. The news is all over the place - some are saying that he'll play this season, while others are saying that he won't. I'm going to be avoiding the sports writers and stuff. A little much, maybe, but it makes things easier. Besides, even if Ben isn't ready, I completely trust Charlie Batch. The Steelers'll be fine. With the news from yesterday, there's talk about Tommy Maddox coming back. Honestly, guys, even if the front office (especially Coach Cowher) wanted him to come back, would he want to come back? He's already said that he'd rather finish with a ring like he did. We really need to wish him well and let him get on with his life. He's going to be fine, so's Ben, and so's the rest of the team. And one more thing: so Ben wasn't wearing a helmet - it happened, please get off his back. I'll post again if anything else comes up. EDIT: (6:31 PM EST) Roethlisberger upgraded to fair condition. He could be leaving the hospital within 3 to 5 days. And an open letter to my family: Yes, what he did was dumb. No helmet, no license - no shit, of course that's dumb! But dumb does not equal funny - to my bro, if this were Eli, Plaxico, Michael Strahan, Jeremy Shockey, or someone else from the Giants, would you have the same reaction as you are with Ben? My guess would be no, so get off his back. All of you. Coach Cowher's going to be laying into him enough as it is. 2006-06-13 19:30:45 GMT
