Halloween Weekend

Saturday

I never had any idea that this night would be the most fun Halloween Party I ever had. I had won the Best in Costume Award in the All Hallow's Eve Ball at the Hard Rock Cafe School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. Thanks to Madam and Monsieur Malkin! The Beauxbatons Babes were awesome. Mad-Eye Gabe was cool. I got to meet PHP newbies too. Ruth, I told you it's fun to be a Gryffindor :D We also got to talk to Won-Won over the phone :)

Sunday

Put aside magic wands for a while. Sabers this time.

I dressed up as Luke Skywalker once again (costume courtesy of Monsieur Malkin) at The Empire StrikeX Back @ Paeng's Eastwood Bowl & Billiards. I participated in all of the bowling games. I had a strike in my first try at bowling blind-folded, first round. In the second round, I got another strike. I went home with two chocolate treat packs. As the event ended, we went to have coffee and endless I-wanna-here-a-shtowy-then&then discussion at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. It was past 2 AM when we called it a night/day.

Monday

Absolutely bored 'til afternoon. I felt like going out but I stayed home and had a Superman I-IV movie marathon. Then Ron invited me to go watch Aids' gig at Gweilo's in Eastwood. Ron, Nina, Chiqui, and I had coffee first at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf before entering Gweilo's. It was past 11 PM then, and we missed the performance of We Kick Ass For The Lord. Thankfully, we weren't disappointed at all because the rest of the bands that followed performed well. I especially liked the band with the girl on vocals and keyboard (I didn't get the name of the band). The night ended with Aids' other band The Purple Chickens as the final act. The girls and I hitched a ride home with Ron.

Stand, Climb, Fall. Rise.

Whew. What a month it was.

Here I am, all sober and enlightened.

I know what it's like to be cast out (and crossed out from a certain list), and then finding out these facts without actual interaction or communication, so it's nothing new to me. I had a more miserable experience with the pink dementors years ago. I adjusted and recovered well. Fairly well. And now in a similar scenario, though minor, I did it again. Last month was just a cinch. It just took a few tears, a drink, and unanswered questions, that's all. Though I may be okay now, the damage was done still. Let's just pretend nothing happened. No need for deeper explanations. Let me just say it all started with me. I tried to back off for a while to find myself. But I was pushed far away instead. It seems that I got the temporary solitary I wanted, though it felt drastic. Anyway, it's time to move on. And I'm very happy with the changes in my life that occured in the past couple of weeks.

Et Cetera

Here's a recap of the what's new in this old freakin' life.
Di malaman kung ano ang gagawin sa damdamin, na di ko maamin.
Friday

Another drinking session with Batch 7 and Sir Burt, with his wife. It was half past six when we left IBM Plaza to take a ride to Ferdie's humble abode in Tikling, Antipolo. We were lucky to hail an FX taxi in front of Gerry's Grill. It was raining so hard and everything in traffic was standing still. We arrived in Tikling at 8 PM, drenched. We had two cases of beer, and I think I was the one who drank most of it. I lost more than 50 pesos in that blasted In-Between playing card games.

SWP trooping at SM Megamall Atrium. Vader Rain and four troopers - Manny, Noel, Buddy, and Oneal - modelled with a black german shepherd at The Furry Tales sponsored by PAWS and Powerbooks. Rej and I were the troopers' PR and armor masters. Emil, Gabe, and Chiqui, who are members of PAWS, also came. Several models and celebrities modelled in their costumes with their loveable pet cats, dogs, bunny wabbits, monkey, and birds too. Some of the celebrities I recognized were: Francis M with some of his kids doing Pirates of the Carribean; The Hizon family as The Incredibles; Juddah Paolo with some others doing C.S.I.; Bianca Araneta with others as the X-Men; Mark Gil as Indiana Jones. Several models also did (as far as I can remember) Charmed (gorgeous babes!), Finding Nemo, The Matrix, Mulawin, and Golden Girls (with some cool oldies). I'll post some pictures soon. My only regret is that... I wasn't able to get the Friendster account or email of that pretty CSI girl who were with us with most of the show's time. Maybe if I had a couple of bottles of beer some hours earlier, I would've known her mobile number too.

Wag ka sanang magugulat sa akin. Hindi ako sanay sa ganitong suliranin.
I went to Jay-ar's to finish constructing the goal hoops and poles for the Quidditch games. I brought my badminton gear knowing that the two of us would be playing. I didn't know that it was actually a reunion of COMS. Apparently, I was not informed due to text messages which got lost in transmission (or maybe those messages weren't meant to reach me). All four of us played at Celilu (?) which is just located a few meters from Ever Gotesco Ortigas. I played some bad games, as usual. I got to meet Charmaine, a high school friend of mine, in the same venue. She was my last seatmate in high school. And she's a very good friend. I even had a crush on her (I hope she doesn't know the link to this blog). We left the place at 8 PM. The rest of the COMS brought me home in Targy's car. Now they know where I live. And they know where visit me soon in my wake. I had fun, guys. Thanks.

Monday

The formal training of Java Programming Language SL-275 has started. It is just a basic Java training, though this week is predicted to be stressful for our minds since everything will be done in just five days.

I really hate it when people talk behind my back, especially when they make fun of me. I really don't like being with people pretending to be good and fair. Some so-called friends, I can do without. You tell them something confidential, and they share it with others to have something to laugh about. They remind me of how the pansies treated me - any day isn't complete without them witnessing any of my blunder, unusual antics, and misery which would make them giggle to death.

It's a good thing no one in my office knows about this blog.

Poetic

Is Life Worthwhile?
ZORA EMELINE A. HENRY
1880-1959

We often wonder, you and I, if life has been worthwhile,
When worries weigh so heavily, it's hard to even smile,
The ones we love most dearly, seem unhappy and depressed,
Their load seems far too heavy, and we long to see them rest.
We long to ease their burdens, and we want to see them smile,
if there's any way to help them, then life can be worthwhile,
If any little act of mine, has brought to you a smile,
Or eased a bit the load you bear, my life has been worthwhile,
For oh, you are so dear to me, that all your cares are mine,
I cannot really be happy be, unless your sun can shine.

Q: Nice poem. But what about my own life?

Dreams

I've been having unusual dreams lately.

On Saturday night to Sunday dawn, I dreamt that I was seated in this roomful of people, waiting in line for something. As my turn came, I stepped out of the room and proceeded to the queue to a table, and behind it was a man signing autographs. He was a priest. A famous one, known for his masterpieces. His name was Rev. Fr. Carmen (I forgot his first name). When my turn came again, I sat at the empty seat across him. We greeted and shook hands. He looked so peaceful and happy to see me. The people before me had some posters autographed by this man. I got a better deal. He pulled a canvass before him and started painting. It took him almost an hour to finish his painting - a silhouette of a man standing on the edge of a cliff looking far at the dark, reddish brown horizon, where a magnificent image of Jesus Christ lay in the dark sky. Fr. Carmen signed it and gave it to me without saying a word. He just smiled at me.

And just last night, I dreamt I was back in school again. I enrolled for another course/program in Mapua. It was the first day of classes. I was at the lobby in Intramuros campus, looking at my schedule. I was surprised to see that I had a lot of subjects, six days a week. I even had P.E. which runs from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. What a drag! I was also thinking of dropping my Saturday classes (which means I had to drop my T-Th-S classes as well). But I never even got to enter my first class because my alarm just went off.

Four trainees from Batch 8 were terminated last Friday, not for incompetency, but for frequent tardiness. At first I loathe that batch because my own batch got involved with the stricter rules set because of them. Now I feel sorry for them. (And one of my crushes is one of those who were terminated).
I miss her. So much.

I would like to extend my congratulations to the IIEE-MIT quizzers of this school year's IIEE Regional Quiz Show for bagging the top honor last Friday at Rizal Technological University. Be the ultimate champion in the IIEE National Quiz Show on February 2006! Vive le Mapua!

SWP Trooping and Random Thoughts

I made a semi career-changing decision yesterday. I was one of the selected few from eight batches who were asked to undergo a J2SE and J2EE training under Sun Microsystems for two weeks. If we pass both trainings, then we shall be deployed and start on a project right away. Some people declined due to the reason that they may not be able to learn everything in a few weeks. Also, by committing ourselves to these trainings, our bond stated in our contract will increase by a large amount, and our stay in the company covered by that bond will extend to twelve months longer. Oh well. If I would pass this training (hopefully), it means that I will have to leave Batch 7 and stay with the new batch of would-be J2EE programmers. *sighs* Also, I won't be able to see my crush in Batch 8 for a while. *another sigh*

Every SWP trooping is never a dull moment. We made children, parents, and guests, especially the seven-year old birthday celebrator (not celebrant as my high school English teacher used to say) happy. All thirteen of us (Bill as Luke Skywalker (costume courtesy of Cousin Z); Cousin Z and Rej as Imperial Officers; Mardon, Manny, Noel, and Fafa Oneal as the loveable and cuddly Stormtroopers; pretty Chiqui as Queen Appailana; funky Gabe as a oh-my-God-you're-a-girl! Tie Fighter Pilot; Paul as a Bike Trooper; Carlo as Emperor Palpatine; Mardon's kid as a Jawa; and of course, Triple T as the friendly-with-mask-on Darth Vader) made an appearance at Greenhills West Clubhouse by the request of the parents of Luigi Arrenza as a birthday surprise for him. I arrived beyond the call time because I still felt woozy from my "fest" last night. Hehehe.

We presented young Darth Luigi with a lightsaber and Darth Vader mask with cape. Then of course, photo-ops galore! Pictures courtesy of Oneal and Gabe =)

"Please don't hurt me, Rain. I mean, Lord Vader."

"To be, is all I gotta be..."

Children's food were everywhere. After our appearance on stage, we ate lunch. I helped myself with most of the dessert - Stick-O showered in the strawberry, chocolate, and mocha fountain, wafers and marshmallows showered in the same fountain and sprinkled with assortments of other sweets, some cherries and grapes. Yum! Oh, I forgot to mention that as we were dressing up, I had some all-I-can-eat Gonuts Donuts, mini-Cadbury chocolate bars, and Hershey's kisses (no, the Hershey wasn't there to kiss me).

At 2:30 pm, we packed up because the party was over. Five of us hitched a ride with Gabe to Megamall. I spent the rest of the day in the mall alone. At 7 PM, I went to pay some bills and went straight home. I never thought that this boring Saturday night would turn out great. At last, I had a chat with Won-won. And that truly sealed my reasons to smile for the first time this week =)
