This is the tale of my Star Wars rpg character who largely appeared in Talk City in y2k through 02. His name was Gregory Arthelius and was from a seedy town on Tatooine. He was raised by a bantha salesman after his Jedi mother was killed by a Sith adept. His hatred of the Sith would lead to the Dark Side later in his life.

Dark Jedi (as I refer to him) started out like any other Jedi rpg character. It was not easy at first. Jedi characters or any Light Side user are unpopular. He established friendships with Shadow Jedi and several other Jedi like him. Eventually he had a master, a fabulously talented Jedi Master whose name I cannot recall. Dark Jedi went through almost a whole summer of "training", mainly learning how to duel with a lightsaber in chat room and using decriptive Force techniques. He slowly became a Jedi, having been accepted into that illustrious order by other Jedi present.

Over a long time, Dark Jedi chatted with friends and broke up several fights, actually 'killing' two other characters with nifty lightsaber work.

After about a year, Dark Jedi met Kitana. A dark haired beauty of a Jedi who was as eloquent as she was skilled. They became friends almost right away, then eventually lovers. The Jedi Code forbids love but it happened. After a stranger event with a Sith character, Kitana betrayed him, almost killing him in an inconclusive lightsaber duel. She disappeared into the ranks of the Sith, vowing never to see him again. This betrayal created an anger so deep, a rift that led to sadness which led to the depths of the Dark Side.

Though he accepted the Dark Side, Dark Jedi was never evil. He remained 'good' to a certain degree, often staying in the same role he had as a Jedi. He could now go freely in the Dark Side users' area and was accepted more easily there than he had been as a Jedi. He befriended several, including a powerful dark Jedi.

This unlikely life in a chat room came to an end in the Springtime of 2002. Dark Jedi was in a private conversation with the legendary Rebel hero Rabbit when an unaccepted character stormed in and attacked him. This fight was short and in reality, Dark Jedi sliced him into four pieces with his blue bladed lightsaber. He refused to accept this and violated role playing rules by not waiting his turn to attack. This was seen by all but the moderator of this room sugested to me that this character was better off leaving and not creating an uproar. I accpeted this out of good decency and peace and allowed Dark Jedi to be 'killed'. He was sorely missed by many. I never returned to Talk City.

Dark Jedi remains in Force spirit form. He likes to stay near his friend Rabbit and converse with others. It is a legend in several communities that his lightsaber and distinctive black cloak now are used by a female Wookie Jedi named Marraka. This is uncertain but pleasant if true.

I do not play him anymore as I do not go into chat rooms. My email addresses are reminders of this time. The oldest mention of his fall came from his time on Excite, [email protected], created in 2001.

I will talk about my experience and give advice on how to role play a SW character of your own making. The limitations of MSNTV 2 (and there are a lot of them) keep me from using a chat service and my Yahoo IM.
