The Time For Love

by

Jeanne Eton Leigh

I was moved to write this after watching Leo Buscaglia, a famous speaker, give one of his talks on television. He always inspired me and I never failed to feel a surge of joy listening to his energetic words.
Why? His message was solely and very strongly about love.

Love is that important quality which is so misunderstood, ignored, and lacking in our lives. Many of us, perhaps most of us, go through our lives feeling never quite filled, never quite complete.

What is it we are missing? Its love. Not necessarily romantic love, which many people think of when they hear that word; not just the love of parent for child, though this is certainly one of the most important areas of love and the place where we have our first experience of what love is ~ or is not.

The love I am speaking of is that all-encompassing love which fills the Universe. That Love we feel on a glorious spring day when the temperature is just right, a mild breeze is blowing the fragrance of blooming flowers through the air and lifting our hair as though by caressing fingers, the sky is an incomparable blue, the song of a meadow lark is heard in the distance, and we are flooded with incredible sensations that make us feel alive and joyous.

That feeling is the Love of the Universe filling us to overflowing.
And that Love is always available to us.

When I first became involved with a particular new philosophy (new to me that is), I surrounded myself enthusiastically with stacks of metaphysical books and completely changed my reading habits from only fiction to only this wonderful new teaching. I had no clear idea of what God was, nor even if I believed in such a thing. The very word God was difficult for me to even think or speak aloud. But the philosophy was such a powerful magnet to me that I promised myself I would read and learn everything until I understood.

In the midst of a book on healing I read a discussion of Love as a healing power and suddenly had a completely new viewpoint on the definition of Love. Love is a tangible force, an energy, something real and powerful that exists everywhere, something that might be invisible to me, but is just as real as electricity and sound waves. The often heard (and often dismissed) words:

God is Love

leapt from the page and overwhelmed me with comprehension. The phrase reversed itself and finally made sense:

LOVE-IS-GOD

Love is God! That force, that energy, that power is what God is. And, therefore, that wonderful stuff which I ached and yearned for was mine already. Feeling an almost physical presence, as though there were strong and powerful arms around me, I cried with joy at the miraculous understanding of God and Love.

We all need to be aware of this:
Love is an undying force, an omnipotent energy, and a never-ending power that is always available to us. We do not have to prove anything in order to receive this Love. We do not have to get good grades, or work overtime, or earn more money, or go to college, or be perfect, or look beautiful. We only have to accept Love now. Love is ours, always, to receive and to give.

This is your time, now! You dont have to wait.

Open your heart! Reach out, and take it. All the love you have ever wanted and will ever need belongs to youit is your right. No one can keep it from you but yourself.

The time is Now!
Dont put it off. Reach out to someone right this instant. Look up now and say, I love you to your child, your friend, your parent, your spouse. If there is no one around say it to the sky or telephone someone. And then, look in the mirror, right into your own eyes, and say

I love you.

One of my very first affirmations for myself which I used specifically because I felt so lonely, unloved, and even unlovable, was:

I am loved
I am loving
I am love

Use it. I give it to you, with all my love.

Love conquers all.
Love cures all.
Love has the power to change anything.
Love has the power to lift us up from one level of realization to another.

Our increased consciousness of this will result in each of us feeling so filled with Love that we cannot help but dish it out to everyone we meet.

We need not feel shy about doing this. Forget your old training about never speaking to strangers, forget your old fears about smiling at passersby, leave the old taboo about touching each other behind you.

Reach out with your words, your smiles, and your embraces to those around you who are feeling empty, and to those around you who make you feel good. Your actions will help them feel that powerful feeling and it will reflect back to you.

You cannot give away this Love and leave an empty space within yourselfit flows right back to you in increased intensity and fills you up even more. The feelings you awaken in others will be passed on, and so the power of Love travels, always there for us, always available, immortal.

Love has no beginning and no end.
It exists here and now, always undying.
It never goes away.

The Love of the Universe is yours now. In Ecclesiastes we are told

To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which has been planted
a time to heala time to laugh
a time to dance...a time to embrace...
a time to get...
a time to speak
a time to love

The time for Love is, and will forever be

Now!
