Cletus was the son of Charles Allen JARBOE and Julious Nolte ALLEN. He lived most of his childhood in Southern Indiana around Evansville area. Going to grade school in McClutchensville. He joined the US Army in 1926 and was discharged in 1927. His military records were destroyed by fire in St Louis in 1973. All that remains is his time in service and that he was Honorably discharged. By 1929, he was married and had one son, Cletus Basil JARBOE b: Aug 26, 1929, who lives in Spring, Texas ( 1999).
Divorced he later shows up in Indianapolis area where he married Mary STURGEON, daughter of Charles Marcus STURGEON and Madge Mae LONG. Cletus was Catholic and Mary was a Methodist. The Catholic religion does not recognize divorce and this broke the 318 year line of Catholics of the Jarboe line, as all Cletus and Mary's children were Methodist.
Cletus was a Jack of all Trades, working on various farms, a plasterer, Polk's Milk Co, Union Station, Coal Delivery, Truck Driver for Ellis Trucking. Cletus and Mary separated in the late 1950's because of his excessive drinking problem and on Feb 22, 1959, he died of an skull fracture from a unknown seizure. He was buried at Washington Park East Cemetery, Hwy 40, East of Indianapolis.
note: An interesting thing on dates that came to my attention. Cletus died on Feb 22, his dad ( Charles ) was an twin born on Feb 22, and that the birthday of Charles dad, Walter was Feb 22.
