- can hold one colour

What is Resolution?

- quality of the picture

- measured in dots per inch (dpi)

- a higher resolution gives more detailed picture and bigger file size

JPG- high detail, low file size, web sage

GIF- low detail, low file size, 256 colours, can be animated

BMP- high detail, high file size, universal- most programs use it

TIF- used in publishing, high detail and file size
