In my opinion the most beautiful model of the Zagato range is the S1 series.. The covered headlights, the slim Zagato door handles (same type as used now on the Fiat Barchetta) and the double bubble roof... It's like a little Abarth Zagato, but with the right dimensions! This is  a preseries model as only 99 of these left the Zagato factory.

Total production 593 of which:
99 Preseries 1, 344 Sports and 150 Supersports (Who knows exactly?)
The factory sedan was designed by Pininfarina. The reason why it wears no PF badges on its flanks is because it wasn't assembled at Pininfarina's, but in the Lancia factory. The sedan was also the last Lancia to be built in the old factory of Borgo San Paolo. Of the whole range, it  was by far the best built, benefitting from an "in house" service of devoted and skilled craftsmen. The sedan underwent very little changes during its production. Apart from some detailing, the most obvious changes were the rear window wipers that were deleted and the larger engine capacity, going from 2500 to 2800 cc. All in all 3.943 sedans were built of which 3.344 in 2.5, and 599 in 2.8.
Among the most elegant cars of the sixties, the Flaminia Coupé desserves a place of honour among Pininfarina's masterpieces. Mostly unchanged during all its production, the Coupé received a larger engine (2800 instead of 2500 cc) but the nice seats (see below) were changed for smaller ones looking like Flavia Coupé seats. Total production outpassed the sedan's with 5.236 built of which 4.151 in 2.5, and 1.085 in 2.8 form.
As for the Zagato range, all Flaminia's made by Touring had an aluminium body, but dare I say they were better built than their sportier sisters. The Touring cars were available as a GT (2 seater coupé), a GTL (2+2 same design with a higher roofline) and finally the Convertible. All Tourings had typical seats except for the GTL. Modifications were almost unexistant except for the adding of reverse lights and the engine capacity which also went from 2.5 to 2.8. Total production 2.866 divided into 1718 GT of which 168 in 2.8 form, 300 GTL of which only 3 in 2.5 form and 848 Convertibles of which 180 in 2.8 form.
The FLAMINA models...
The latest model, the 2800 Super Sport is regarded by many as the most valuable, but this opinion is mostly based on power, not merely on looks! The SuperSport was the first production Lancia to cross the magic barrier of 200 km/h.
This must be one of the very first S1 sedans that were exported to the USA. The completely red taillights are typical for this market. On this picture typical S1 features are the rear window wipers , the small direction indicator light behind the rear quarter window and the absence of a side repeater on the front fender. This particular car is equipped with 4 drum brakes.
Above are some pictures of the best looking Zagato....

The picture on the left (a Berlina can be seen on the background) is a "production" SI.

When you take a closer look you might find  the round foglights  too large! This "error" was corrected on the following model.

It seems this car is missing the gearbox as the camber of the rear wheels looks wrong...

Note the absence of side strips.
It seems someone at ZAGATO wasn't totally satisfied with the nose arrangement on the SI and the new model coming from the drawing boards was much better looking. This front looks very nice, especially the curves of the higher fenders are a pleasant sight.

These  beautiful curves on the frontal area disappeared with the SuperSport. The Super Sports' "KAMM"-tail on the other hand looks far better than all the previous arrangements.

This front combined with the 'Kamm' tail of the  SuperSport would be very nice too... It may exist, as crashed cars were often updated to a newer configuration!

Did you know that in 1960, a famous racing driver named  CABIANCA drove his Flaminia Sport from Milano to Firenze at an average speed of 187 km/h establishing a new record?
