MINOR BODYWORK - RESPRAY & NEW INTERIOR
After a few years of ownership, I decided to have the Lancia resprayed. It wasn't an urgent matter , but the sight of some flaws made by the the former owner such as having the car sprayed without removing the door handles wasn't nice to look at. The silver colour was a bit light too, so I  stripped the car before delivering it to the coachworker. It's quite straightforward, except for the grille which was a real hassle and some of the chrome strips around the windows....
The fun began when the car came back! First I fitted the door handles with the new rubbers bought from CAVALITTO in Torino. It's not cheap, but it really changes the look of the car. I could have cut such rubbers myself but then the small border would be missing.... In the end, every rubber profile and  window scrapers were changed. All these parts are still available from BERNI MOTORI in Italy. (See the LINKS-page)
With every part cleaned before going back on the car, I used new ss screws and bolts. The old ones were kept for model purposes in a sorting box. Every single hole received a spray of wax and when the exterior became shiny and new again, the interior, however still in good condition,  didn't match the exterior... I knew a very good place in Antwerp where you can have your seats reupholstered so this has been done too. Removing all the interior has a frightening result as the car seemed really 'completely dismantled' and questions like "Will it ever get right again?" surely come to mind.... even the dashboard with all the electrics went out.
Finally the new interior was partially finished and I started to rebuild the Flaminia's interior. The repainted dash panel was the first thing to get back in place.... and while doing so, I decided to rewire a great deal of all the "weird looking wires" with non-isolated clamps (for which I had to buy a special tool to press them properly) and shrink hoses as per original....  The instruments were dismantled and cleaned up....
In the end... this is what I got. I'm very pleased with the result even tough I made some mistakes. The front bench seat which I've changed for the optional separate front seats from a parts car, need specal fixings... and the floorpans are different. To fix them decently a special profile must be made. The dull rubber carpets don't match very well with the new seats. New black or tan carpetting is a solution. The Nardi steering wheel looks very nice and gives the car a finishing and sporty touch. Maybe one day rear curtains might be installed, but I need to see how these were fixed.
