Released only a year after The Floating Castle, Kingdom of Sorrow was the second edition in the King's Quest novel series. Written instead by Kenyon Morr, it was recieved by equal skepticism by the King's Quest community. Though many had grown to accept King's Quest novels as a respectable form of the series, Kingdom of Sorrow was not considered to be as good quality adventuring as The Floating Castle was, as it did not manage to capture the essence of King's Quest quite as well.
This novel returns to the roots of King's Quest, following King Graham as he seeks to return spring to the land of Daventry. After the beautiful Queen of the Faeries, who controls the bringing of spring is kidnapped by a band of Goblins, Daventry is held in a seemingly endless cycle of winter. It is up to Graham to find the Goblins and rescue the faerie from the evil King Dunstan, once more returning spring to the land.
