Mission: Asteroid Walkthrough
Directions:
N = North
S = South
E = East
W = West
D = Down
U = Up
You start out in front of a square building with a door. First, check your inventory, by typing INV. You have a watch, and it is beeping like crazy. LOOK WATCH to see a switch. PUSH SWITCH to hear that the secret password is "starstruck." Now that the watch stopped beeping, OPEN DOOR and GO DOOR to see a secretary. TALK SECRETARY to say hello to her. She will not let you pass until you know the password, so go ahead and SAY STARSTRUCK. She now lets you pass. Go N to a hallway junction. Go W to the briefing room and SALUTE the general. He tells you of your top secret mission and leaves. The asteroid is going to hit at 7:15 PM tonight! You better hurry!
You can enter the press room that is W of the briefing room. However, do not talk to the reporters because this is a top secret mission, remember? From the briefing room, go E twice to a computer room. There is a floppy disk on the table, so TAKE DISK. Wonder what is on that disk. INSERT DISK ... INTO DRIVE to view the navigational directions to the asteroid itself. Write them down.
Go E to the supply room and TAKE EXPLOSIVES that are on the floor. This is what you will use to blow up the asteroid. LOOK EXPLOSIVES to see that there is a timer. Keep that in mind. Go E to the gym and EXERCISE a bit. You need to be in shape for this mission, cadet! Go E to the shower room and TAKE SHOWER, so you can feel refreshed and ready to go. Go W back into the gym, and then go N twice to meet the doctor for your pre-flight checkup. TALK DOCTOR and tell him that you are feeling GOOD. OPEN DOOR and go W to exit the building and be outside near the rocket.
Go N to the rocket, and CLIMB LADDER to the rocket's door. PUSH BUTTON to open door, and GO DOOR to enter the rocket's vacuum chamber. The blue button on the wall is to close the outside door and open the door to the control room. The orange button does the exact opposite. Since you want to enter the control room, PUSH BLUE button. Go N into the control room, and PUSH VIOLET button on the wall to close the door behind you. There are a lot of control buttons here, and you have no idea what they are used for, so READ SIGN to learn more about them: white=left, black=right, orange=up, blue=down. PUSH THROTTLE to lift off!! You are now orbiting the earth. OOOH! You will be pushing the four colored buttons to navigate. Each time you push a button, you travel in the button's assigned direction for 5 minutes. Push the same button again, and you will travel another 5 minutes in that same direction. Got it?
Now you can use the directions that the Apple computer gave you:
RIGHT FOR 10 MINUTES = PUSH BLACK (2 times)
UP FOR 5 MINUTES = PUSH ORANGE (1 time)
LEFT FOR 15 MINUTES = PUSH WHITE (3 times)
DOWN FOR 5 MINUTES = PUSH BLUE (1 time)
LEFT FOR 5 MINUTES = PUSH WHITE (1 time)
UP FOR 10 MINUTES = PUSH ORANGE (2 times)
There is a much faster shortcut to the asteroid: PUSH WHITE, PUSH WHITE, PUSH ORANGE, PUSH ORANGE. Once you are orbiting the asteroid, PULL THROTTLE to land on the asteroid's surface. You are here! Now it is time to prepare the on-surface mission to blow up asteroid.
Go W and GET SUIT. WEAR SUIT. Go E back into the control room, and PUSH VIOLET button to open the door. Go S into the vacuum chamber. Remember that timer on the explosives? Well, it is time to SET TIMER to 150 minutes. That will give you just enough time to return to earth and blow up the asteroid before it hits. The explosives are set. You are almost ready to exit the rocket, but first you need to TURN DIAL on your spacesuit to turn on the breathing air. PUSH ORANGE button to open the exit door. Go S, D the ladder, S, and W to a cave opening. GO CAVE. Go S to a pit. DROP EXPLOSIVES ... IN PIT. Now you need to run back to the ship. Go N twice, S, N, and CLIMB LADDER. Hopefully, you did not spend too long on the asteroid surface and run out of air!
GO DOOR and PUSH BLUE button to close the exit door. Phew! You can TURN DIAL to turn off the air now since you are in the ship. Go N into the control room. Now it is time to head home. PUSH THROTTLE and use the following directions: PUSH BLUE, PUSH BLUE, PUSH BLACK, PUSH BLACK, PUSH WHITE. You are orbiting earth. PULL THROTTLE to land. You made it! LOOK WATCH to check the time. Hopefully, you made it back in time and that the asteroid has been destroyed.
