Where do I start. Brian is now nearly 71 and unfortunately now in a wheelchair for most of the time We met when I was 19 and he 32 and we both worked at the same place, he was transport manager and I was (can't remember what my official title was) in charge of ordering components for the paint that was made there. We first went out in the May of 1962 to see the Black and White Minstrel show in London.
He was born on 29th December 1929 so was a boy during the war years about which he has some tales to tell, always in to mischief. He was evacuated for a time but on a visit his mother brought him home as he had got wet previous to her visit and the lady made him stay in his wet clothes as punishment. He consequently had Rheumatic Fever and was in bed for months.
He did his National Service at 18 and when that was done he signed up for more, so he has been to lots of countries and seen so many things. During that time he married for the first time and had 3 daughters, Carolyn who is now 48, Susan 46 and Madeleine 44. When he and Lucy split he married for the second time and he was actually still married to her when we met. That is why we "lived in sin" as it was called then.
Since we have been together he has held various positions, Chauffeur to a High Commisioner, during which time there was an accident when the Daimler he was changing a wheel on came down on his back when the jack broke. He had to leave then obviously as he was out sick for a long time.  When he recovered partially he applied for the Mace bearer job for the Mayor of Bromley but the previous chauffeur got that and they offered him the chauffeurs position which was a bit difficult at first as he was still dragging one leg a little after the accident, but he managed to pass the driving test with a little help from Tony (the Mace Bearer). The hours there were long and we as a family did not see a lot of him as in his spare time he was involved with the TA and Army cadets. He has often said that in the early years I brought up the children.  By this time we had moved to Orpington and after some years with the Town Hall he went in to business for himself which unfortunately "went to the wall". After that he got involved again in youth work and helped run a Youth club in Orpington.
After the death of his mother in 1983 we decided we would have a change and having visited Milton Keynes we decided we liked it and moved here in the November.  Unfortunately ill health caught up with him and he has not worked since we have been here. He was involved with The Childrens centre on this estate for a while on a voluntary basis.  Over these later years we have had a few scares heart attacks etc. but all the kids and I reckon he will outlive us all!!
As a person he is very outgoing, people talk to him and tell them all their problems and he gives sound advice. He will help anyone if he can, even now. He is a flirt and chats all the women up and he seems to get away with it." he is an old charmer"  After a few rough years at the beginning he has been a good husband and father and I think as they have grown he has the respect of all his children.
In these later years we have spent 24 hours a day, 7 days a week together and it has been great, we do get on one anothers nerves sometimes of course but we just go to separate parts of the house to give one another breathing space.
