I researched this Zimmerman genealogy using data obtained from internet sites.  The only information I had to go on were names on the family pages of my grandmother's Bible.  These names included her parents and grandparents.  I cannot absolutely verify the accuracy of this line.  ~  Jean
Our Zimmerman Family from Germany to Oklahoma
The earliest data I have found on this Zimmerman line begins in Remels, Ostfriesland, Germany in the 1700s:.

In 1857
John Rencken Zimmerman 1807-1876 and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Golden, Adams County, Illinois.  John Rencken Zimmerman died in 1876 in Golden, Illinois and was buried in South Prairie Cemetery.   
The American Zimmermans
German born John Jansen Zimmerman 1838-1919 immigrated to the United States with his family in 1857.  They settled in Illinois where he enlisted in the 119th Illinois Volunteer Infantry and served during the civil war.  In 1867 he married Margarethe Johanna Gembler and in 1884 they moved from Illinois to Belle Plaine, Kansas where he farmed for the rest of his life.  John Jansen Zimmerman died in 1919 and is buried in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas.

Mary Virginia Martin Zimmerman remarried Robert Caldwell.  She died in 1968 and was buried Mary Virginia Caldwell in Isabella Cemetery, Major County, Isabella, Oklahoma.  Her grave is in Zimmerman section of the cemetery and several of her eleven children are buried nearby.
