If you have time to read the article written by Irene Peckham Hildebrandt you will read about how her family left the homestead in Ness City, KS and came to live near Enid, OK.   She Tells how her father made the blocks used to build the stone barn

It is a really wonderful account of the pioneer days on the plains written by a wonderful lady.  Irene Peckham Hildebrandt attended and later taught school in the Turkey Creek School located near Enid, OK.   Several years ago the school was relocated to Enid.  It is now part of "Heritage Village," a small group of historic buildings near The Cherokee Strip Museum.
