1. Whenever it is determined that an incident is about to occur, or is occurring, or has occurred, a determinations will be made as to the level of response required.

2. In many cases, only the individuals directly concerned and necessary to alleviate the situation, and to provide the proper care, will become involved. Explanation announcements will be made at a later time so as to keep all concerned informed.

3. If an incident is imminent and requires a high level, at-large response, an intercom announcement (special code) will be made. This indicates impending danger for the entire school. All teachers should lock their doors and the janitor should try to secure as many outside doors as possible.

4. Upon hearing the above, the following personnel will respond immediately:
A. The on-scene coordinator will report to the specific area and will coordinate the team effort.

B. CPR/First Aid personnel will report to the specific area with a first aid kit and blanket.

C. A designated teacher will monitor the main building (downstairs) and move students/teachers, as necessary, for their best placement.

D. A designated teacher will monitor the main building (upstairs) and move students/teachers, as necessary, for their best placement.

E. Designated teachers will monitor the cafeteria annex and move students/teachers, as necessary, for their best placement.

F. A designated teacher will monitor the annex and move students/teachers, as necessary, for their best placement.

G. The intervention strategist will escort his/her students to a predetermined area and then proceed to the front office.

H. The counselor will report to the front office.

I. The secretary will handle all incoming and outgoing calls.

J. The assistant principal will oversee and monitor the overall situation.

K. The principal will remain in the front office to notify emergency personnel, pupil appraisal, parents, etc. and will make announcements as needed.

L. A designated teacher will monitor the white building and move students/teachers, as necessary, for their best placement.

M. All other teachers and personnel will remain where they are and await instruction.

5. For a fire, an alarm will be sounded and all personnel will evacuate the building as per drill procedures. (Teachers will direct students out of the building by the usual evacuation route except when that route is blocked by fire, smoke, or simulation of them.)

6. For tornado drills, students and teachers in the main building and the cafeteria annex are to go into the halls and be seated against the interior walls and lockers. Students in the annex and Family and consumer Science classrooms will move tot he wall opposite the windows. Students in the 600 rooms will move to the wall away from the windows.

7. In the event that teachers are needed on the grounds at recess, before, or after school, an announcement will be made. All teachers are to report IMMEDIATELY to the grade level recess area. Move students to a safe, secure area, away from the crisis.

8. If a crisis is not threatening to the entire school, the announcement "First-aid team report to room ___" will be made. Designated teachers will report to the scene. Administration will report to the front office. Teachers do not need to lock doors and monitors do not need to secure the area.

9. If a bomb threat has been delivered to the school or an item is suspected of being a bomb, an announcement will be made to tell students where to report. No one is to return to the buildings until the principal or assistant principal, in person, has told you to do so. In inclement weather, students will be housed wherever possible. If a long period of time is needed to sweep the building, the assistant principal and secretaries will call for buses to come for the students.
