Raphael is by far the most intense, in-your-face turtle. He'd much rather hit first and ask questions later. He doesn't like being sidelined for any fight. However, this tough exterior hides a very feeling side that he wished no one would see.
My take -
My take on Raphael... hmm... well, I've always hated to just categorize him as being "angry" because I truly don't think that's it. I think he is much more feeling than we know, and more than he wants to be. Using the "tough guy" image gives him the freedom from the others that I think he wants. He wants to be set apart from them, and this is his outlet. He can go off by himself and be alone, and no one will bother him, because he is just being "Raph".
His relationship with Leo, I've always found interesting, also. They both bicker on most things (I hate to say fight, because I don't think it escalates that far most of the time.) but especially on Leo's command. They both care for each other deeply, that much is obvious. I also think it's obvious that they would be lost without each other. They infuriate and know each other's soft spots, they can push each other's buttons like nothing else, but I don't think they'd have it any other way.
