Thanksgiving Pictures with the Bakers & Embassy Marines (November 2002) |

Saitama AJET & Saitama Teacher’s Worker’s Union End of Year Holiday Party |

Do you ever wonder what it is like having Thanksgiving in Japan? Not so great for most people. How about having it at Ambassador Baker’s house? Well, for the last two years Mr. & Mrs. Ambassador Baker have been so kind as to allow a small number of JETs to have a real down home Thanksgiving dinner at their house. (Thanksgiving without all those family arguments you see on TV) You want to talk about eating anything that isn’t nailed down… don’t ever open your house to a bunch of English Teachers, give them an open bar and unlimited food plus let them meet one of the most influential Americans in the country… unless you are ready to see the food flying off the table and into their mouths… And the politics running wild. Warning: Just keep your hands and feet away from their mouths until the turkey is finished. Oh, and then have the Marine’s invite them back to the barracks for card playing and another open bar…. Oh, the days. Thank you sooo much Ambassador and Mrs. Baker! As well as all the Embassy staff! (Especially Ms. Matsumoto) |

Of course you have to attend the annual Saitama AJET and Saitama Union party. OK, I was a bit too drunk to take many pictures… but if each one is worth a thousand words… we are telling a story here already! |
