Stakis operated a number of casinos around the U.K., many branded as Stakis Regency Casinos, until 2000 when many of the casinos were taken over by Ladbrokes, and then shortly after by Gala. The casinos currently operated by Gala use a mix of Stakis, Ladbrokes and Gala chips, although Ladbrokes chips are less common as Ladbrokes only operated the casinos for a matter of months. Unusually for the U.K. Stakis casinos used �2 chips especially in a few locations (including Bristol) which have �4 minimums on blackjack tables.
