DISTANCE RUNNING DIGITAL LIBRARY
History of the Project
The DISTANCE RUNNING DIGITAL LIBRARY was built as an assignment for an Online graduate course I am taking in the Southern Connecticut State University Library Science program.  The course is entitled Digital Libraries (LSC 551-70) and is taught by Professor Yan Liu.  I chose the topic of distance running as it is of great interest to me. This project is the culmination of a semester's study of the development, growth and evolution of digital libraries.
In creating this site, I endevored to bring together and coherently organize a number of diverse running links.  In doing this, I have tried to use the principles of traditional librarianship, especially in the areas of collection development and cataloging.  Bringing the traditional skills and standards of librarianship to the deluge of information available on the Internet is perhaps the most important contribution digital libraries can make to ensuring free and open access to quality information for all users of this fast growing medium. I hope the
DISTANCE RUNNING DIGITAL LIBRARY suceeds, in some small way, in doing this.
