John Heathcote My Poem
To be a redhead was once thought to be strange
I don't really know if that theory has changed
In olden days, they were the Celts
And Europe was the place they dwelt
But move them to the USA,
this is where they'll plan to stay.
Put them with the name Heathcote,
And John is the result, we note.
From Cali to the Utah state,
he thinks a lot about his fate.
He's a realist who thinks he's cursed
Yet, for him, I talk in verse...
He's taller than me with of course the red hair,
he watches TV with a focused stare.
He's honest and true, a perfect gent.
And also quite intelligent.
His sister Jen told me this week:
She wished him home, from head to feet.
I think I must agree with her,
Cuz without John, Elk Grove's a bore!
